Classic two-panel file managers have no terminal. In rCommander every panel can be one, local, in WSL or on the server you just opened.

Terminal or file list

Ctrl+Ö

Ctrl+Ö toggles the panel (Ctrl+` on a US layout), as in VS Code on a German keyboard; Ctrl+Shift+Ö opens a new terminal with a choice of shell. The other panel stays a file list.

Full width

Ctrl+Ä

Ctrl+Ä spreads the active terminal over the whole window width and back (Ctrl+' on a US layout), for the moments the command line needs the room.

PowerShell, cmd, WSL, SSH

WSL

PowerShell and cmd locally, a profile per WSL distribution that starts in the Linux path of the folder, and on a server an SSH channel of the same session the SFTP panel uses, opened in the panel's folder.

Folder in step

OSC 7 / 133

At an empty prompt the shell changes to the panel's folder; when you switch back, the panel shows where the shell went. Shell integration for PowerShell, bash, zsh and cmd; never across a network share.

Login scripts

Vault

A connection can run a login script on its SSH terminal: wait for a prompt, then send text or a secret from the vault, only right after the prompt it waited for. Progress shows in the status line.

Remote commands

ssh_exec

ssh_exec runs one command on a connection and returns its output and exit code, for scripts and for AI assistants that need a result rather than a session.
